En Primeur – #BDX2022

Saint-Emilion2021 will remain in our memory as a difficult vintage. Fighting against frost, then mildew, then having to take meteorological risks at the end of the ripening period to push our dear Cabernet Francs to the limit and get the best out of them, and finally sorting out what had to be sorted. The result of this struggle seems to be beautiful and the blend will allow us to offer a 2021 worthy of its name! – Arnaud de LAFORCADE Commercial and Financial Director of Château Cheval Blanc

Pessac-Leognan – The capricious spring and summer weather was corrected by beautiful autumn that allowed our vines to mature perfectly. The white grape harvest took place from 2 to 18 September, and the red from 22 September to 14 October. – Florence CATHIARD Owner of CHâteau Smith Haut Lafitte

PomerolThe 2021 harvest is the result of a long growing season in Bordeaux. This year, the season started early, at the end of a temperate winter, leaving the vintage without heat and sunshine excess. The growing cycle benefited from a radiant late season, during which the harvest took place, harvesting only a few days back. Thus, in Clinet, the harvest began on September 27th for the Merlots and ended on October 7th with the Cabernets Sauvignons. Among the particular elements of this 2021 vintage, the harmony between the phenolic and physiological maturities must be noted. Several years of the last decade have offered powerful, gourmet, and warm wines, while 2021 offers more delicacy, retaining, remarkable brilliance, and aromatic precision. – Ronan LABORDE Director and Owner of Château Clinet

Margaux We feel a sense of satisfaction and relief. We harvested very high quality grapes. Our soil, exceptional for its precocity and nature, enable it brilliantly. Cabernet Sauvignon has better adapted to the climate in 2021. – Sir Henri LURTON Owner of Château Brane-Cantenac

Saint-JulienWe have put everything in place to give priority to quality. After difficult weather conditions we had to deal with, we have harvested the result of our hard work. Merlots have been vinified precisely and Cabernets live up to expectations. The only point to deplore is the yield, one of the lowest for the last 10 years. – Sara Lecompte CUVELIER General manager of Château Leoville Poyferre

Pauillac – It is a hard vintage. We treat the vine in time and the grapes fought and resisted. We had good weather and a perfectly sain vineyard. Thanks to that, we were able to wait in order to have optimal maturity. The Cabernets are very tasty and the Merlots perfectly good, such as the yield. We are genuinely happy. We are still going to work according to biodynamic principles, even if last year we have lost two-thirds of the harvest. This was the price to pay. – Justine Tesseron Co-Owner of Château Pontet-Canet

Saint-EstepheIt might surprise you according to the global vision of this vintage, but the harvest went well. We have produced 35 hl/ha. 2021 is going to be a Medocain vintage with alcoholic degrees between 12 and 13%, and smooth tannins. The cabernets sauvignon are great, and the merlot very interesting. This vintage goes beyond our expectations. – Charles Thomas Commercial Director of Château Cos d’Estournel
