Californien, Napa Valley, Opus One Overture NV – Then multi-vintage blend that until recently has been available only at the winery in Napa Valley, now being commercialised to beat the drum a bit more for Opus. Deep ruby with a pale rim. Very sweet, ripe, penetrating nose that screams Napa Valley. An edge of cocoa. Light, lively and open with just a little bit of rusty nail on the end. Perfectly friendly.

A timeless expression of our estate vineyards.

Overture is a multi-vintage reflection of the winemaker’s artistry. Full bodied but approachable in its youth, Overture shows generous dark fruit aromas and flavors with a soft, supple mid-palate. As a fine wine, Overture will develop profoundly over time.

Opus One winery is a wine producer located in Napa Valley, famous for producing a Cabernet Sauvignon-based Bordeaux blend named Opus One.

Opus One’s history started in 1979 when Château Mouton Rothschild’s winemaker Lucien Sionneau and Robert Mondavi’s son Timothy made their first vintage together at the Robert Mondavi Winery. A year later in 1980, a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild (owner of Château Mouton Rosthchild in Pauillac) and Robert Mondavi was announced.

At the time, the investment from a legendary winemaking family from Bordeaux helped establishing the reputation of Napa Valley as a world class wine region.

While the very first vintages were labelled as Napamédoc, it is only in 1982 that the name Opus One was adopted, as a reference to a musical expression denoting the first masterwork of a composer.

Today, Opus One is owned by Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. and Constellation Brands.
