Pessac-Leognan, Château Lespault-Martillac 2015 is fresh caramel and chocolate aromas sit across crushed violets and blueberries. The palate has a very plush and fleshy core of blueberries and blackberries. A seductively fruited wine. Try from 2020.
Score: 93 James Suckling
The 2015 Lespault-Martillac is plump, forward and juicy. Mint, sweet herbs and licorice add further shades of nuance, but ultimately, the 2015 is a wine built on forward fruit. This succulent, open-knit Pessac-Léognan should drink well early. The 2015 is an attractive wine, but it also lacks a bit of depth and continuity, something that is especially apparent on the finish.
Score: 88-91 Antonio Galloni

Tight tannins, full extraction and very modern. Ripe coffee fruit and grippy tannins; plenty to enjoy. One of the bigger expressions of the vintage.
Score: 90 Decanter
The 2015 Château Lespault-Martillac is also outstanding, although it doesn’t match the quality of the white. Smoke tobacco, blackcurrants, truffle and plenty of classic Graves earthiness all emerge from this ripe, medium to full-bodied, voluptuously textured red that’s going to drink nicely for 8-10 years.
Score: 90 Jeb Dunnuck
Grapes from 7 hectares of old vines, mainly planted with Merlot and a little Cabernet Sauvignon, are fermented and aged carefully to bring out the best of the terroir and fruit.
The red wine is a brilliant, deep, highly attractive colour.
Its intense, complex bouquet is full of charm, redolent of red- and black-berry fruit picked at peak ripeness. Hints of hand-made plum jam, blackberries, and blueberries are enhanced by the fresh, mineral overtones that come from this deep-gravel terroir.
Its elegant structure and finesse give it a well-integrated, very soft, silky mouthfeel. The good acidity of the fruit, combined with fresh minty overtones from the terroir contribute to the overall balance and exquisite character of this fine red wine.
While it will age well, its intrinsic qualities make this wine very enjoyable when young.
